OVO Energy Entering Direct PPA Market

One of my contacts in the energy industry has recently taken up a new position at OVO Energy, with the sole purpose of revamping their direct PPA agreement and processes, in order to bolster their renewable energy portfolio purchased directly from generators, and are offering incredibly competitive prices in order to do so.

OVO Energy have been available via several different PPA platforms over the years, however this change means there is another option to consider whilst deciding who to sell energy to directly, should you choose not to use a comparison website, which is always a good thing.

Aimed at large scale generators, with 20 working day payment terms, OVO are offering prices incredibly close to the pricing curve, which in essence means that they are offering as much as they can, getting as close as they can to forecasts, without running at a loss. The only downside to this approach is that their offers won't be on the table for very long, as any market movement will result in the specific unit rates offered being pulled and needing to be refreshed to account for any change.

If you have an upcoming export PPA renewal, it's another supplier to consider, and I can provide their new PPA contract template, that was only signed off by the lawyers yesterday, should anybody wish to see the finer details.

If anybody would like assistance in finding the best rates available on market, I'm always free to discuss potential approaches or complete full market tenders on [email protected].

What do you call "Large Scale" - Our annual output is in the region of 400 Mwh on wind ?
Yes I would classify this as large scale, I’ve checked with OVO and they would be interested in offering an export PPA as part of a full market tender if you’d like us to explore your options.

what are ppa prices now, heard it was about 9 p last month
It would primarily depend on your DNO region and type of technology, balancing costs are having a large negative impact on variable generation technologies.

I’d be happy to get some example prices that are specific to your system if you’re interested in seeing what’s available to you?

But all start ups have big losses in unless they have seriously duff accountants. How many years did it take ecotricity tostart making money I wonder?
how much did they lose on those 5 Kw turbines they have away willy nilly until they found a hedge fund to take them off their hands for silly money

They were in profit but now racking up big losses. That’s not a start up business model
