Pallets under bales, or not?n tar

Woodchip and homemade rat bait mixed in (plaster of paris and cornmeal) works a treat under hay, made right (baled early and turned weekly for a lunar month)
- have found plastic just makes them sweat, and that smell brings the rodents.

Then the same bay is used as a calf-rearing pen in spring for my budget bucket beef

What do you lot do to tidy your sheds out?
You can’t exactly sweep up the loose straw full off rat bait and bits of pallet then tip it in with some cows to tidy it up

I've never used pallets or tyres under bales. How do those of you who do, manage when you are emptying the shed? You can't drive on pallets as you would break them, so presumably you pick them up and stack them. You could drive on car tyres I suppose, but if they are picked up, can you successfully scoop them up in a bucket, or does it mean manhandling them?

You have to keep stopping to pick um up. This is why quality straw, kept properly over winter costs.......

Tyres, pallets, plastic sheets etc with all the time and hassle involved concrete sounds attractive and over a few years maybe not as dear as you think also can be swept up and shed maybe used for other things as well

even a shed with a concrete floor has pallets
selling hay @ £250+ has got to be worth the hassle
put a line a pallets out ,.....stack with a 40 bale grab
flat 8 load the lorry ,...pick up one line of pallets ready for loading the next load ,...... easy
