Latest announcement on ports shut down to passengers and vehicles with drivers, will this effect parts?

Do DHL, John Deere etc use roll on roll off unaccompanied trailers?

Its only 48 hrs but its a long time of waiting for a part thats stuck!

They say 48hrs but that could soon becomes a week.
Would you as a driver risk it?
No chance. Especially xmas week.

The rest of the world seems to be terrified of this new strain of covid. Don't know how it's being reported. I'd messages from people in Australia and the US about it yesterday from people I haven't spoken to in years.

Unaccompanied freight is still moving both ways, its just the driven freight that's stuck and all the relies on their way home to the continent , dont think its affecting movements at any other ports, just Dover

The new virus will be Europe wide, hence the wave of new restrictions across Europe last couple of weeks. There just not admitting it and using it as an excuse for post brexit muscle flexing to put the pressure on the uk.

Order very little from Europe now. I use one place in Germany and they're slow anyway. once it moves it's GLS then Parcelforce..
Time it takes between Germany and UK is say it comes over on truck.

Parcel force aren't shipping out of the UK as of today. Royal Mail no Europe.

Had one to go into France today ... 3 options pricey, pricey but slower and forget it til March.

Does anyone else think there is a bit of EURO opertunism involved here.
Ideal opportunity to apply some supply pressure to the uk to prove a point and force their hand in the negotiations?

Not really no. There's more lorries etc there side trying to get in than were trying to get out so it wouldn't really be helpful to them!

Don’t suppose they need much help to be fair, one report of ques at the border and Sainsbury’s warning of possible shortages and the masses here soil their trousers and hey presto panic buying and mass exodus to the nearest toilet roll outlet
