Pet Calve - Abomasal Bloat

Pet Calve 6 days old, tiny twin only 25kg!
Feeding all good, slight scour but tonight found on its side totally bloated up!
Tubed down throat but nothing the traditional way and reading it will be bloat in the Abomasum on the right hand side which there is

Is there any tricks or that can try to help this Calve as all I read online is nope!

Calve is alert, not dehydrated and fairly responsive still, breathing as normal as can be in circumstances

Does it "slosh" around if you move it?

The only time I've had this colic or abomasum bloat issue, it was caused by "bad" milk powder (apparently there's an anti-bloating agent which degrades over time). A few calves bloated up but came right, one died. My research at the time was, as you have said, that there's not really much that can be done about it. I didn't have the problem again after I changed back to real milk.

Could be a clostridial disease causing the bloat? If so, I beleive penicillin works on this but you've got to be quick. Ask your vet.

Administered penicillin and metacam as soon as found it!

Honestly can't say hear much sloshing but could be my hearing as they say!

Under heat lamp and will cross fingers

had one like that 50 ml oil i had sunflower oil, had to do it twice 12hr apart was aright after.Then feed it 3 x day for a few weeks spliting down to smaller feeds. good luck.

vaccinate (bravoxin / covexin )when better , always do my cade lambs at 2 weeks old now , and virtually stopped bloat , often a clostridial issue causing problems and just a first dose will help a lot .
