Pet lambs

Im looking for advice on pet lambs & suggestions on keeping them alive. My set up is a heatwave milk warmer, ad-lib lamb creep with decox. Lambs are approx 2 weeks, all have had mums colostrum. I have 1 with watery/yellow diarrhoea but seems ok otherwise, 1 who has gone down hill in a few days, sucking milk but struggling to get up & hunched. I given both of these some spectum, I also have a couple of weaker lambs not taking on much milk.Any suggestions & advise would be greatly appreciated.

We tried very hard the last few years to save every last lamb but ultimately it comes down to birthweight and reason for being orphaned, I think this year we'll be putting the smallest/weakest ones down quite quickly. you can cure (and they will get) almost every problem going but they just cost time and money before they die, and if they do survive they don't thrive. Seems harsh, but a quick death is less cruel than slow one. Good to give everything a chance but if they're not doing well after a couple days they just don't seem to improve.

Make sure the bedding is nice and dry.If they get wet and cold underneath they'll get similar to what you're describing. Maybe clean and disinfect the milk system and put them on electrolyte until their guts settle. Jab of abs aswell

The best thing for pet lambs is to sell them to someone else
Nothing but a pain in the arse

Make sure you sell them to someone else WHO LIVES A LONG WAY AWAY. Made the mistake a few years of selling 6 pets to a girl friend ( not girlfriend) who had an idyllic picture of bouncing baby lambs. I spent more time going to look at the bloody things for her than I did the main flock of 500!

I’ve heard that (Pygmy goats apparently have better sized teats;) ), but it’s an issue finding CAE accredited goats ime. If they have CAE, which I’m told is quite common, they will pass Mv to you cades. Not a problem if they are all slaughter lambs maybe, but don’t keep any for breeding and be aware of the potential for disease transmission to the rest of your flock.
I decided the risk/hassle really wasn’t worth it for me.
