Pickups and dogs

I have an amarok, and generally have two terriers occupying the cabin with me. Whilst this is all very nice it does mean it is not the cleanest of places. Does anyone have a way of containing dogs in the cabin other than small cages? And no they won’t go in the back 🙄

You can get Harnesses for dogs to attach to seat belts.

Seen some extending mesh structures to go behind front sets that might work...

One terrier is like Harry Houdini and can get out of harnesses seemingly effortlessly. It’s something like an oversized box or structure to go behind a seat.

My terrier sits up front next to me on one of those noodle mats, less tied to the headrest, same as nick doesn’t stop the nose snail trail on the windows though 😂

Don’t shoot the messenger but Iirc it’s illegal to have dogs loose in the passenger compartment of a vehicle, meaning points on your license from plod if they feel inclined.
They are supposed to be restrained in some way, to avoid becoming missiles in the even of a crash, even though the toolbox sitting on the back seat is ok…

A cage behind the seat would seem the most obvious way of achieving that, if they won’t stay in a harness.

There are nets that separate front seats from rear ….

I know you are right and it has also been a worry. That said I got stopped by a friendly traffic policeman the other day due to me being in excess of the alleged speed limit. When he came to the window to discuss the problem he was met by 2 terriers bouncing all over the place, he found that quite amusing but didn’t say anything about it.

Most wouldn’t care I would hope, but a particularly officious one may choose to use it to gain points.

I assume your VW has the electric brake button? Beware loose dog knocking it off. Did hear of farmer killed some time back by dog in cab releasing brake. I assume that must have been similar switch as can't see dog releasing standard brake.

Pop each in a sack tied at the neck with their heads sticking out. That's how we used to transport geese. Probably illegal for both species!
I took some geese to an auction like that probably 40 years since and got a severe telling off, they should have been in a crate. Then a few years ago I stopped to help an RSPCA woman trying to catch a swan by the roadside, plenty of onlookers but no one would grab it. Anyway we caught it and she produced a specially made sheet with straps on, which she wrapped round it and fastened it up, leaving just its head sticking out. Just like my sack 🙄
