Plantar fasciiatis aka policemans heel, remedy?

Ive had this before and suffered to get through it.

I think hard floors in house and work boots cause it.

Ive got soft shows for inside now but still painful.

Being single on farm means resting is not an option.

Anyone had this?

Daughter has this and went to see a podiatrist that has a scanner you walk on. recommended some inserts for her shoes that support the arch. There is only one manufacturer really and are ridiculously expensive for a 3d printed piece of plastic. Interpod flex I think they are called.

must have them in every time you wear a shoe/slipper apparently or they don't help as much.

Might be cheaper to buy air jordans 🤣.

I have it.

Best thing is to stretch your calfs.

I do it walking up the stairs. 30 seconds minimum on each foot, alternating feet as you go up each step.

Steel toe caps and wellies are not helpful but in our environment hard to avoid. But when you don't need waterproof or protective footwear go for good quality running shoes.

Avoid flip flops entirely.

Will post some other devices that have helped.

There are loads of insoles you can try/buy to alleviate pain of this sort. I often wonder if much of it is caused by shoes/boots that are the wrong size or shape for the wearer though. Not something I have ever suffered from but I know people who have.

If you start wearing insoles it the beginning of your new life needing insoles forever
If you want to get better properly it’s all about foot strength and dexterity to build back the muscle
You can walk and get by on a bloody stump of a leg for years not realising how weak your feet are

Taping can help

I did also see an ankle brace to keep foot more in the walking positikn when sleeping so it heels in correct orientation.

Ill get some boot inserts tomorrow, and will go buy hiking boot for farm, i hate work boots they heavy and dont last anymore.

All suggestions appreciated, i will try most of them.

I had a few physio appointments after wrecking my previously stuffed ankle a few years ago and she taught me that taping technique I posted above (didn't watch the video so I hope it's the right one).

Found it felt really good as even in socks it pulls up on your sole and makes you feel supported, if I do feel tired sore feet it's the first thing I do out of the shower and remove the tape next day, it's something they should teach in school

I suffered from this continually for over three years at one time, tried every insole, shoe and painkiller going. As last resort tried acupuncture, first visit the lady said it was the first time she’d done it for the condition and it could take a long time to see any benefit. I wasn’t inspired. Two sessions a fortnight apart and it was gone and luckily through sticking to soft soles and slight heels on all boots/shoes it hasn’t returned in fifteen years

Our feet should be able to bear our weight all day every day without this kind of pain, which is surely inflammatory. Worth taking a look at your diet and assessing it for things that contribute to inflammation. Sugar/highly processed stuff etc, like puting vegetable oil in the tractor engine, it’s not going to work like it should.

I was advised to wear insoles in wellies 20+ years ago for a lower back pain. Sorted the issue.

I developed PF 2-3 after tearing a leg ligament, years ago, and my Osteopath recommended me to a private foot specialist, and it turned out that the one heel was in rag order... Lots of internal damage from my "keeping on going" over teh years, again caused largely by wellies and not getting proper orthotic insoles for my feet earlier.

Had treatment over 3-4 months including steroid injection, then custom fit orthotic insoles. So far, so good...not been back again, but do need new orthotics as I give them some stick.

Yes, losing 2 stone would work wonders as well, but Doc reckoned it is the work environment that is the critical factor.
