That looks like a tricky and potentially dangerous job. Are you sure that you can't rebuild all in steel?

Otherwise 7 x 10 would be fine.

I agree but that is going to be one dangerous job taking a pole out unless op is planning to take the barn down and reuse the trusses.

I would have to price it up, but my first instinct would be to take it down, reuse the steel trusses, and put up 9" hollow block walling on three of the sides, and probably new telegraph pole posts at the front, and I guess, not concrete them in but pack hardcore/soil back round them in the hole.

So need to be talking to a structural njineer to see what might hold up a tile roof in 12 months.

Just take poles out put new poles in? Place I work at normally with change a few poles in our barns a year because somebody will crash into them never had a problem yet…

As above, but if the posts are sound above ground, bolt through U-shaped steel section on each side and concrete in the bases. Depends how good a job you need and how much money you want to spend. I am never fond of parting with money and don't intend to be around that long.

To replace the poles the barn is going to have to be stood back upright, that may be terminal.

It is one thing saving money but quite another being squashed.

If you're determined, I'd be using sq crash barrier.
(well, in fact I'd be using oak or chestnut, cos I've got a sawmill)

There are times when you have to recognise that something has come to the end of its useful life.
This may be one of them.

(If it has to be repaired for planning reasons, just do it one post at a time - it doesn't look very high or heavy, so no real danger)

Buy a new portal frame and put the trusses on facebook, some lemon will think they’re a bargain and buy them!!!

As already been said just replace with telegraph poles or box crash barrier
Make sure you've up righted it before you start and have it secured all ways.
Think those who say it would be cheaper and easier to put up a new building are underestimating the time and money involved.
