well if it's growing stuff then yes pt....but if it were for say an indoor farmers market or something like that i'd be tempted to consider steel portal....if you're looking to dodge planning be careful cos the end use could matter...eg if you had sheep in one the planners might roll their eyes and say ok....but if you wanted to sell sh cars from one they'd say 'oi he's trying to circumvent planning'....if that makes sense

its growing stuff, specialist stuff for a niche market but certainly is farming

Put it up. You can always get retrospective permission later.
Mine has been up probably going on 30 years. About 20 ft span. No concrete. Had 2 sheets in that time and that was because of damage from cattle

around here the phone at the local planning office would be screaming hot before we got the plastic on !

If its a temporary structure you might get away with planning. If its permanent structure then you will need planning. Things what make it permanent. Concrete foundations, concrete floors, permanent electric water or gas connection. Temporary solutions. Pre cast concrete foundations, Concrete bog mats, Mobile Generator, Rainwater collection tanks, LPG gas.

I normally put a 40 mtr tunnel up every year or recover a 40 mtr tunnel. Plastic cost approx £750 although finding quality plastic is now proving difficult.

We applied for pre application advise for a polytunnel and were told to apply for permission. When we applied local authority said we did not need it. I do think it depends on area.

Lots of soft fruit grown down your way in tunnels of about that width and height. Now they grow on table tops they are up for a lot longer so have proper doors on they look tidy as mentioned above nearly all haygrove you can build these easy but watch out for heavy snow this can be a nightmare

I'm told that the quality of the plastic is paramount for longevity.

There was one here, lasted less than 6 months before the plastic was shredded by the wind.

They had some curved tin sheets made to fit the frame.

These lasted about 2 years before the whole thing blew away...

Very dependent on nimbys/neighbors. Within 2 days of starting to put a polytunnel field shelter up the council came marching across the field after a "tip-off". They agreed it was a temporary structure under the rules and left assuring me they would advise the informant it was legal and no further action needed.

I know we got refused permission, but others close by have not permission and never had problem, think depends on locality, know of some one who had a visit from planning and argued that it was a temporary structure as would be taken down after lambing, hoop part of frame slots into another pole in ground so could be pulled out,
