Some are………Will depend on the marketing period, certainly should be closer to £300 than £250.

And I understand some are not, some are sub £250.Some are………
I don't suppose Frontier did too badly out of it...That is horrendous.

Group 1s being marketed till the last day of June?I bet a lot of, if not the most, on farm averages for wheat last year was sub £250.
Anyone who has sold everything at the highs is speculating, in my opinion not good marketing and could go completely the other way in another year. A decent average is important imoI bet a lot of, if not the most, on farm averages for wheat last year was sub £250.

I'm sure if we got an average price of wheat sold in the UK for say June delivery, and added on the average milling premium, over the period stuff was actually sold, that £250/t would look quite decent.Group 1s being marketed till the last day of June?
Hasn't Camgrains bi-annual pool over the last couple of years shown a long marketing window is not necessarily good.Anyone who has sold everything at the highs is speculating, in my opinion not good marketing and could go completely the other way in another year. A decent average is important imo
Pools are odd. Bad on a rising market good on a falling one. But then for ten years there has barely been much movement in the markets through a season.one day i will read a TFF thread chatting about how well the pools have done
after-all even broken clocks are right twice every 24hrs
shocking results !
Yeh, I have some in bi-annual, wish I didn’t now! A long marketing period at the moment is bad.Hasn't Camgrains bi-annual pool over the last couple of years shown a long marketing window is not necessarily good.
Do all pool managers sell everything forward the moment they have pool commitment?
An algorithm could probably beat most pools, and most farmers every year.divide tonnage by weeks and sell same amount each week - i bet even that simple zero risk strategy kicks pool ass pretty much ever year
They do, but you don't expect almost half the pool to of been sold long before it's harvested.Pools do get a lot of sh!t on this thread without anyone actually looking at the marketing period.
Agree. Although if things continue as they are I bet you would be pleased if half of it was sold before it was harvested. Rising/falling market again. They do, but you don't expect almost half the pool to of been sold before it's harvested.
Yes true, but that would only offset the missed opportunity on the season before.Agree. Although if things continue as they are I bet you would be pleased if half of it was sold before it was harvested.

Should be easy enough to use AHDB ex farm dataset to compare selling an equal portion each week ex Farm Vs various pools.
