Exactly:
Dad had two aunts who both married the same man. First one died young leaving 4 kids so next one in chain went to be the "housekeeper". he only had one kid by the 2nd.
Both of wife's grandads had a reputation.
One lost two wives young having had children by both, he then had a housekeeper who somehow fell pregnant (into his 60's by then). I once described the housekeeper's daughter as looking like Father in law in a dress !!!
Other grandad knocked up the barmaid who was 25 years younger than him in his local and had to get married in a hurry. He had a previous "mystery" family that Mother in law wouldn't talk about and denied existed, funny how every one else in the town knew all about them.

We should never judge previous generations using todays values
after my Grandfather's second wife died he took on a housekeeper which apparently my aunts disapproved of, as they were worried what he might get up to, he was in his 90's!.
did know of a man who had been a Batchelor all his life and in his 70's had a heart attack. So his brother organised a nurse for him, she obviously was very good as they had to get married! ;)

............................i must have led a sheltered life................i would have to hold my hand up,i cant think of anything inappropriate. I regret the way things often turned out after several years though.
My motto is try before you buy , many girlfriends one wife . (y)

I believe (well my wife told me and I never disagree) that up until this year or last, there was no actual age of consent in France.

And for @Danllan

I wouldn't worry about the age of "consent" because that's just a number to meet an approved political criteria, but what is of concern is what's deemed to be "appropriate"....failure to be appropriate get into the realms of the worried squirrel.....🤔😉

going back to Royalty it was said that Henry the VIII got to "know" Jayne Seymour at the tender age of 12!

Fifty odd years ago, two popular chart hit were "Young girl, get out of my mind" by Gary Puckett and "Happy Birthday sweet 16" by the Mr Clean of pop, Neil Sedaka. Listen to the lyrics and it's clear that (lack of) maturity was no bar to the attraction of teenage girls to older men.

There's also an episode of "The Likely Lads" from the early 60's which makes comedy out of one of the "lads" dating a woman and his mate dating her young daughter.

I just don't understand it. You're prince Andrew and can have the pick of most of the women in the land. A quick wink to one of your staff and you can have any woman you want choppered in for backgammon and a bit of cribbage.

Why get involved with someone who is clearly dodgy as fudge and then get anywhere near anyone under the age of 20?

I don't understand it. Probably the sort of bloke who turns up to a shoot in a full bells on Range Rover SVR, jumps out of it in his Reeboks, whips out a 7 shot remington pump action and shoots 5 pheasants before the first whistle- when they are still on the ground.

So is it OK to send children up chimneys? To be fair (unlike me, I know) I'm pretty sure you didn't mean that but I think it's important not to excuse just because mores and times were different.
Why not excuse past events that were ok under the morals of the past? Times were different, if your going to look at past events with todays standards what are you going to do today not knowing the standards of the future?
