Because there are plenty parts of our history we shouldnt be proud of. We can a acknowledge our history such as it is, but we can also learn from it.
Historically we didnt allow women to vote. I dont think we support that idea now.
i think most people should be denied the vote regardless of sex if im honest. this country has been probably one of the most open in rolling out a fair as close to the original greek idea of democracy in the modern world post feudalism. im extremely proud of the empire without it this country would not have been as wealthy or prosperous.. rome the normans conquered most of the uk for their empires etc the barbary pirates came and took slaves from devon cornwall etc . rome took slaves the normans imposed there feudal law which dominated for how long ?... so we took what was done to us by others and inflicted it back on the world, n so what if they did , dont see anyone having a go at spain, italy france germany. the only difference being the british were better than all those at achieving their end goal..

I have to accept it, just dont ask me to support it
You might see it a bit different if it was scotsmen burning houses and crops and killing women and children in the home counties?
it was scots burning scots houses crops killing women n children the majority of cumberlands land clearance policy and transportation was commited by lowlanders, i think the english have more right to grievance ... jacobite invasion which lead to culloden. the siege of Newcastle in 1644. or the cattle thief wallace in the middle ages..

Now you’ve done it. You’ve changed a condolence page to a History duel.

Nonsense

the problem with this country is we are ruled by people with a lack of vision, instead of paying people dole money it is better to provide productive jobs after ww11 we led the world in computing but we gave all our research and progress to the Americans we led the space race but the powers to be could not see the use for launching satellites so they shut down the space race program it these people that set us back, just imagine if we had developed a new royal yacht that was ahead of its time the spin-off from that could have kept some of our boatyards in work you have to look outside the box we seem to be obsessed with the old technology anything new is viewed with suspicion and that is why we have lost our market place we no longer have a truck manufacturing industry the only car industry is run by foreign companies there is f--k all left we can be proud of all because of narrow-minded individuals that cant see further than the end of their nose

The very common refrain on this forum is that 'the British don't make/design or build anything these days blah blah blah...'

Remind me again, where did the first conventional Covid-19 come from?

Yeah.

16 battalions in the government forces so 25 percent that were in direct Scottish battalions plus those in other battalions and cavalry... N that was just the last battle haven't got into the Jacobite victories at Preston pans or Falkirk which again had plenty of Scottish support on the government side...

Without the english fighting for a german king it wouldnt have happened. Ponder that.
