I admit to not reading all of these pages but what is the advantage of these big expensive SP machines over a decent size trailed spreader with a 50kph tractor on big tyres ??

They are both good at different things.

I have a local lad working with me, cracking lad with his own tractor and spreader. When we work together I’m always impressed at how much he gets done, which has made me think differently just lately.

Nothing, many years ago, got my forward control high clearance County sprayer stuck, no problem says neighbour, Fiat 100 crawler on the front, pulled it out,
well he pulled the front axle off, but left rest of sprayer Still stuck,
3 days later, repaired and replaced axle, hand dug, and jacked up sprayer, timber ramp and out it came,
laugh about it now, but not at the time,

Blimey, I’ll bet he was peeved about that.

Some significant investment there.
Yep, less than 6 months old then too and fresh back from Lamma. Not obvious from photo but hopper is huge. Its a K105 or K115 thats been cut and extended. There was some spare room on the chassis so they stretched it. I believe hopper is wider at front than the back. If spreading limestone, they can get 20t in it if you wanted to.
