Prolapse close to lambing. Update.

Sincere thanks for all the advice you have me on my prolapsed ewe.
Yesterday she had twins, the first weighed in at 4kg & I delivered the second one at 5kg. The mam licked them & shuffled around to bare her one tiny teat for them to feed. A few hours later, she had a 3rd which had it's legs folded back so my partner delivered that one at 3kg. We tube fed her colostrum & made little splints from insulating tube as her legs were bendy & couldn't support her. An hour later she was up & walking. All was good so we left them with the mam to feed, checked them about 2 hours later to find the smallest one squashed to death under her. Mam still down, the other 2 taken & under the red light on bottles & thriving... and I'm devastated.

Any advice on murdering the ewe & making it look like an accident? Asking for a friend

I'm sure some ewes kill off the weak ones on purpose, like they know they wouldn't survive.

Mind you, some kill off good lambs ? that's sheep!

I'd call that a very fair result so far. Don't be so hard on yourself, you did well to catch her lambing at all. We all have worse endings every year.

The ewe turned & I spotted her legs are covered in bleeding sores & no sign of her to get up... The vet gave me the number of a man who's certified that shoots animals & brings them away. He shot her before I was ready, then dragged her around the field on a quad to the gate. I know it's for the best cos she wasn't ever getting up & it would be cruel to leave her suffering.... but Jesus lads, I hope it never happens again

Dont be hard on yourself, you did your best and I am sure she had better care with you than some would have given her.
I know it is shocking to see a dead ewe bouncing behind a quad, but she would not have known, and it was the best thing to do. Just concentrate on bringing the lambs on and get your satifaction in seeing them grow. Look at the healthy ones and be content.

That’s sheep I’m afraid... I had 2 lamb yesterday a set of twins and a single... massive single, mum loved it lamb was bouncing round the pen I intended too let it out this afternoon into the larger group ... the twins, average size maybe a little small... ewe couldn’t get up if I held her up she fell over... tube feeding the lambs colostrum so I knew they’d Definatly had it even though they were bouncing here there and everywhere....
went tonight too jab the down ewe and let the single out...

Ewe has lay on the single all I could see was a head poking out... and the other ewe was up and about living life too the full with 2 dead lambs in the corner of her pen... couldn’t make it up 3 hours they’d been on there own and carnage unfolded ??‍

If it makes you feel bit better form the very second he shot the animal she would never have felt anything and that's what's most important while dealing will ill of fallen stock. it would have been the best thing in the circumstances. it would have not been nice for you but that is good stockman ship on the animals behalf

Thanks for the messages & encouragement. We're new to this & just had 8 ewes & 2 rams. We now have 7 ewes & 10 lambs & 2 rams. We do it part time as we both work, luckily I'm "self isolating" this & next week. I wish I could do it full time. These two were born this morning.
