leave a inspection lamp on under reel of wireAny ideas on protecting mig wire from corrosion, without having to take it off the welder every-time you use it? Has a habit of going pimply if left an it gets damps.

Used to do that with mine. Never had any problemsI WD-40 mine, blowing off any excess with the compressor before use so it does not slip in the wheels or contaminate the weld. It was invented to keep unprotected bits of space rockets from corroding, I beileve?

Didn't the moisture in the air settle on it in the evening? One of my 1st migs had no cover over the real,I fastened a mineral bucket lid to the back of the reel mount then cut a slot in the bucket and encased the real. was never a problem after.

Maybe. We use ours pretty infrequently, though - we try not to break stuff! ;pNo never any trouble, newer welders have a cover over reel, maybe we weld more and wire doesn't get chance to rust?
Sounds good we run two migs its just we have moved workshops an its a bit damp in there at the moment. Had thought about lining the inside of the spool housing with bubble-wrap to insulate it a bit. Do you put the light inside the spool cover?

I have left a 5kg roll on my welder for 6 months or more unused and the wire is just as I left it, if the wire inside the welder rusts I dread to think what happens to the tools left out!
Ahh! But was the wire rusted when you left it?
