Protest vote backfired?

I'm not particularly happy with last night individually but the votes are counted and we move on.Looking to the future I very sincerely hope that it doesn't lead to so many other countries going down the same path that the EU tears itself apart completely. The potential consequences of squabbling and unrest between 27 countries left in(&others not in)are not something any of us want to entertain really,it may never happen but a functioning continental EU would be a help. If EU were to collapse what then for European food supply,it is one area where national governments have ceded control for decades(before we joined)to Brussels and it's been pretty successful overall whatever our gripes have been.

True, who would want a high standard of living? That's just madness. Seriously, I think we can look at them as they were told the same horror stories as us back in the 90's and none of it came true. We can certainly look at how they trade with the rest of the world. We have our own assets. We are pretty much the financial center of the world. That's going to be worth more than oil in the future in my opinion.

Sounds like the big German car makers are already on the phone and who can blame them? They are business people and we are a good customer. That's really all there is to it.

"Who would want a high standard of living?"

Well I would for one. I do have, what I consider a high standard of living, or at least one I enjoy, which I would not want to change. So everything my wife has told me must be true. I am mad!!

I don't know how long it'll take but I don't think they want to drag it out any longer than absolutely necessary(granted we're the first to ever leave so there will no doubt be very many pitfalls in the separation).A quick clean amputation so what's left doesn't get infected might be an analogy..

How much would we have got post 2020 even if we had voted remain? Not a lot methinks.

The reality is that all the "new" countries to be admitted to the EU club will be not be net contributors, there's no more rich countries wanting in, so the pool of money will have to be spread wider.
A few former yugoslarva (spelling?) countries are going through stages now.

I doubt they will even want to join now and I wouldn't be surprised if the EU disintegrates in the next few years.

They'll join as long as Germany keeps paying. Their dreams of empire are finally coming true. Problem is that empire is expensive and in the end, even the Germans will get fed up with it. In the mean time, good luck to them. Proud of us today.

So many of us will have voted leave as a protest vote but weren't really expecting this result. I wonder how many will be regretting their decision now? Just two more BPS cheques to go and all that.....

I say again "Oh yea of little faith". You have surprised me recently with your doubts about the ability of you and others to come through this all in a blaze of glory. I know I have remarked about Llanelli v All Blacks; Welsh rugby in the 1970s; the current European Cup etc; but now have to remind you of Rourke's Drift. It can be done, it will be done.

Britain will prosper outside the EU. Just believe and it will happen. Have doubts and it certainly will not happen. The doubts and fears are what the fellmongers (financial markets) are banking on. Defy them. Whenever you feel a doubt arising, remember Ivor Emmanuel and sing along with him "Men of Harlech..." or, and I prefer this Ffleur Wynn and "Ar hyd y nos" at Treorchy, or Max at Cardiff Arms Park. If you still have doubts call on that honarary Welshman Henarar and he will bolster your spirits. It is done, we will succeed.

Well if you voted to leave as a protest vote you are an idiot and you deserve everything that's coming for you.

If you are relying on your single farm payment at the moment to survive / pay the mortgage, quite frankly you are f**ked and your clock is ticking.

Best hope you can come up with a good diversification idea as per your other thread, quickly (y)

You are somewhat naive, they are laughing their pants off, it will take years and many many more civil servants and lawyers to untangle the laws and policies.
And boy will we pay for it.
You are not wrong, unfortunately. Whilst it is important to remain positive given we are where we are, it is nevertheless ironic that voting to leave means the creation of armies of the very bureaucrats and experts that were the target of much bile in the campaign.
As Kafka said "Every revolution evaporates and leaves behind only the slime of a new bureaucracy." C'est la vie.

They can and will go @ the required speed applicable -Fast.
The amount of work will not decrease, fast equals more people, fewer equals slow. The amount of work is like a 100 acres of silage more people less time, if fewer then more.
There are 40 years of work done that needs to be rewound, let's hope this is quicker, otherwise it will be more than a few pence on the pound in income tax or VAT.

Complete rubbish!

The majority voted out because they are fed up with the way the EU is going and immigration!

Yep it could be a tough few years for farmers but farming isn't a bed of roses now in the EU anyway!
