PTO Guards

As being pulled by the PTO shaft guard Police, and quite rightly so...
Can you buy new PTO guard end cones to fit a 50mm coupling?
Can you buy the adjustable PTO shaft guards, as I can only find fixed length ones available?

I think the fixed length ones are meant to be adjustable you just need a hack saw to get it right.
Spaldings did sell flexible ones with a certain stretch a few years back, they were a complete system but do not know if they are still available.
if given a choice I would opt for the American style spinning metal guards, but the HSE never liked them, so they disappeared here.

The BareCo ones can be got for just over £70 each, fit all sizes of shaft, can be cut to any length and actually make greasing less of a ball ache. They might not last quite as long as some when on constant use machines, but that’s not an issue for most kit.
I don’t even consider any others now.

Would agree with all that apart from i haven't found them to last any less than any other make. First one i got, can't remember how many years ago, went on the keenan which gets used every day through winter, still as good as new.

We went to get a new cover for the sawbench and came away with a whole new complete shaft for £65ish 😳
^^^Agree with this. A few of our guards had got a bit ropey a last year. Buying replacement guards was difficult getting the right size guard in different makes etc. In the end it was only a few pounds more for a complete new shaft and guard complete. Seemed immoral to do it but was by far the most cost effective and safest way.

Wow!! I can remember being horrified at the replacement cost for a pukka Krone PTO shaft/guard for my round baler. Went down to Ludlow and bought a complete setup for under half the price. Had the double joint ends, which pushed the cost.

It wan't 65 quid though. Make solid sense to swap the whole unit at that price...
