Just seen an article on BBC about the cargo ship that’s had sails added. It said that the ship saved an average of 3 tonnes of fuel per day which resulted in a saving of 11.2 tonnes of CO2 emmissions per day.
I’m not a chemist ! But how can 3 tonnes of fuel = 11.2 tonnes of CO2.
I remember the old joke about what’s lighter a ton of feathers or a ton of lead. So how can you get 11.2 tonnes of CO2 from 3 tonnes of fuel ?
