Had to get this "interference fit" shaft out on combine

Got it drilled out and tapped to take a 12mm thread, and made a puller out of an old bit of pipe

Back running again now. or will be when it dries up

Guess this qualifies for a bodge, the exhaust had started shaking around the bottom of the silencer stack, thought it ok to carry on for a bit, but yesterday the bottom of the bend blew, and exhaust gasses burnt a hole in the battery cover, so had to to something in a hurry, bits of pipe and the 3cx exhaust pipe. £465 for the bottom bend pipe from Massey! And over £600 for the box, I'll fabricate and repair the existing bits when I've more time.

Found a reel of 3 core and earth wire (brown, grey and black) - what's stopping me putting a plug on one end and a socket on the other and making an extension lead?

In all seriousness if it's solid copper i.e. 1 single strand rather than twisted multi strand then don't. It's not designed to be bent constantly. Soon it will fracture and arc up inside. Bad news

Proper! Thought it best to double check as electricity scares the crap out of me most of the time but I saw no reason why it shouldn't work as long as the get colours paired up correctly

I did similar with a 4 way extension lead. Pulled the original wire out and replaced with heavier cable about 15ft long. just long enough to reach across the workshop. Don't have to faff about winding it out and can have 2 grinders and drill etc all plugged in on the same job at once

1mm will be no good as an extension lead, a normal 13a lead will be 2.5mm (that's square mm, not wire diameter )

Hopefully it will say what it is on the outside of the cable

You need a round tuit before undertaking this

2.5mm square cable will measure 1.8mm across

13A is 1.5mm cable up to 25m, 1mm is around 10A, but only suitable for up to 10m. BS1363 plugs aren't designed to take 2.5mm.

I'm sure we've got some 2.5mm extensions though, but these a probably homemade .... it all depends what you want to run from it?

And as you say, 2.5 is tight in a standard plug, but not impossible.....
