So, question for the masses.

I've acquired a 4.5ton feed hopper, but I needs raising 18 inches to get the snacker underneath. Would it be safe enough with 3 sleepers underneath the legs to give it the height. I can fix the legs to the top sleeper, would they all need screwing together? Should I brace the 2 stacks across to fix them together??

Any other bright ideas gratefully received!!
If it is metal get an engineer to make extension feet & do it properly, you'll kick yourself if anything 'happened' caused damage or injury or even spilled expensive feed & you'll be able to move it, give it the odd 'caress' with machinery in passing etc - but that is a different thread - though if you are as rough as me then sleepers & twine or concrete blocks will be fine - crack on

Can you not concrete a 18 inch beam around the bottom in a n shape and bolt it down. Better still if you did a 6 inch base over the whole area with mesh bent up to tie into the beam

To be honest I could do alot of things to sort it, but cash flow is being diverted elsewhere at the moment, so I'm afraid I'm doing it on the cheap! 🫣

What about sinking the sleepers as pillars for the legs of the meal bin to fix to? Not a huge job if you have a post chapper.

I was offered it for nothing if I could move it and shovel out a couple of tons of mouldy wheat which were inside.

So far ive:

Extended it up by 4 feet.
Put a lid on
Fitted fill pipe
Repainted all the wood work.

Was just going to use bags, but found a very affordable second hand snacker so thinking may as well go whole hogg!!

Do you have access to a set of extension pallet forks to lift it?
Also have you fitted an exhaust pipe?

Weld base plates on legs
Then stacks of paving slabs - builder s or Facebook for free ones

you can lift one side at a Time and increase by 2” the repeat until desired height achieved

Yeah, it's got a vent at the top, out of shot.

Considered this, its got base plates on already, thought sleepers would be better as easier to fix to/ fix all together.

There was something on here recently that the concrete base stops wind blowing them over.
I think best option would be to add concrete feet to the height you need and bolt it down into that weight. Could even do a U shape and just leave one side open for stacker.
If you lengthen legs with steel add more bracing too.
