Radio 4 PM programme today

what would actually happen apart from a few red letters?

I shall be not be using a TV for broadcast or catch up TV when my existing licence runs out and will not be paying for another licemce. We stopped listening to the BBC a long time ago. Not I may hasten to add because of the reasons in this thread but because it is clear that the BBC is just a mouthpiece of the establishment spreading state propaganda (no doubt many will disagree) paid for by us.

If you want info on not paying a TV licence can I suggest

https://tvlicenceresistance.info

and their very helpful forums for factual information on the subject

I have supported the BBC for many years as until recently they have been better than any alternative.

They have crossed the line in the last 18 months though what with Packham’s antics, their anti meat eating agenda and anti field sports bias. The BBC is basically anti rural UK . I am seriously considering not paying my next TV licence on principle. What would actually happen apart from a few red letters?

Nothing, I have tested the hypothesis for the last two years. All in the interest of research of course.

And right on cue I just was reading their forums I came across this recent article about how the BBC used the Archers script to get propaganda over to farmers

"Quite early on in the show London said, 'The microphone must not go to the smallholding anymore. Stick to the mainstream farmers'. Which I think said quite a lot about their view about small farming, really"

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...m-Archers-fault-says-shows-former-writer.html

Apologies for posting a link to the ever vile Daily Wail.

Think you’re in the minority with that view
Probably, however I thought Henry Dimbelby was quite sensible with what he was saying early on. I thought the chef was a bit stupid and Minette Batters did not make a case. What was being said was that the quality of food people are eating is generally poor which really is not to do with farmers but with the rise of processed food rather than people using ingredients to make their own. With regard to welfare of animals I defy anyone to defend intensive broiler chicken production (however it is a factor of market forces). There really is nothing wrong with the BBC (countryfile excepted) unless you want a type of PRAVDA backing the goverment and establishment all the way.

What they are omitting to say and explain to the public is that farmers are struggling to produce this fantastic high welfare product at a cost that is affordable to the masses. It’s no good talking about welfare and better quality unless it’s paid for fairly.

All of these pronouncements come from people who think that dining in a restaurant is the norm, paying £10 for an under done scotch egg with a swirl of balsamic round it.

They haven't a clue about life at the lower end. Just a bunch of ordinary blokes...... that went to Eton. As John Prescott used to say.

We need Trump he’s got it nailed #fakenews.

As much as people dislike him he’s far more aware of the left undemocratic undertone that most people don’t dare question in case they get Vilified for being racist/homophobic/ right wing extremist.

That (high welfare/quality) food is available in the shops today. The problem is twofold one is encouraging people to eat the right food the other is the fallacy that the price of food has to go up for farmers to get a better deal whereas in reality farmers should be highlighting the disconnect between the prices they are paid and the prices charged in the shops. The massive profits made by the supermarkets are at the farmers expense. That is the line we should be repeating.

Well, hopefully farmers (not Farming "leaders"....) will be represented on the new Peoples Committees on food!

I did try and find the weblinks relating to the feedback groups for the same new research group. Failed!

I too thought MB took Evan Davies on well and actually put him on the defensive, albeit mildly. She seemed well on top of her brief. The other vegetable enthusiast interviewee came across as a pleasant non descript sort of dude. A bit of vegetable really...

as I am fond of saying: market share is the root of all evil.

Where is the news pro active for the good that Glyphosate has done in pulling millions of Africans out of starvation, feck me we don’t hear this all we hear is about some Californians who have got cancer...........possibly from lots of everyday things. Let’s get some perspective on how the world works and that choices in life do mean risks but some out weigh the harm done.

One of the briefs for the Archers in the early days , was to carry an educational message for farmer listeners. It was no secret that built into the story lines were a a continuous drip feed of info such as going to spray the barley tomorrow with some MCPA to kill the weeds and possibly mix in some CMPP etc. Also promotion of Using a 100 units of nitrogen on the wheat etc,. later that crept up. Old Brian Aldridge alwayshad the bestyields!

So apparently after some complaints about the broadcast yesterday, the bbc was going to be ‘fact checking’ his statements on the PM programme this afternoon. Unfortunately I missed it but I would like to know what they said, and if the apologised. Anyone know ?
