As far as I can see the TS86 came about to facilitate the RWM bodies, that a far longer body than the likes of the TCN for example, not only longer, but the leg has a much more swept forward bend in the leg to get under the body and connect to the frog, and thus the point and plough disc were further forward, so the crosshaft had to be moved forward to accommodate the disc between the tractor and front point,
The inter body clearance is further at 30" point to point aswell, this tends to stop the back skimmer throwing skimming on to rear of front body,
Coupled with the fact there is lots of different sandwich plates either side of rear leg, can give a multitude of furrow widths,

There is still alot of TS86 about and must of made many hundreds in production,
I,m poor enough not to be able to justify the purchase on one 😢
However I have a similar spec TS59⅞, as I modified years back, and run it on TCN,
It does help to get Trash in the bottom,

I have not ploughed competitively with it, due to Ploughing trailed and in recent years high cut,
As for having bells and whistles, it don't make the Ploughing any better, just easier to adjust 😉 to get plough set right, it's all done by the man on the seat not the bells and whistles,

Bells and whistles are nothing on mounted ploughs,
you wanna try high cut, it's like having a full orchestra trying to play Meatloafs, Bat out of hell in F major with Freddie Star as the conductor 😆 🤣
