Rappa hurdles

I'm on the internet maybe once a fortnight looking for those hurdles. I have long and heavy sheep gates and it's nearly impossible to drag 8 of them in to catch sheep.

But then I start crying when I see the price of the aluminum ones, Rappa, Ritchie or anyone else... brutal prices :X3:

I know I should bite the bullet and just get a new Rappa but it would need financed just now

Just had experience with Ritchie don't take any notice of prices you see on there website rung the dealer and prices were quite abit less than listed

anyone know how strong they are ? A pen full of shearling rams here will fold up any lightweight hurdles

There £65 so you'd expect them to be a lot better than light lambing hurdles...

Problem is I went to order some in Feb, was told they were altering them a bit - shortening them to 7ft but they'd be the same weight as the original 8ft hurdles (so we're using thicker wall metal) and they'd be in stock early April. Then this virus broke, I phoned in April and was told production got held up, it'll be end of May... now it's end of June they're coming in

There is someone on here ordered some in December or January and as far as I know they've not got theirs. Can't remember who it was though

Well this is it... I said to the guy to give me a price as I want a few other bits. And he said I'll let you know when we are stocked.

At this rate I reckon whatever supply they get will all be accounted for and I'm not sure if I'm on the list

It's a good job I'm not desperate for what I am wanting/needing, but if it keeps going like currently I'll go back to Alligator for what I want and see what their situation is (the Fowrass concertina hurdles match with Prattley/Rappa and Alligator mobile yards)

Maybe so, but 7 or 8’ steel hurdles with any strength in them will be hard to pull round the sheep in any number. There’s a simple reason the mobile yards are made of expensive Ali. if they could be as handy made of steel they would have been, and sold a lot more of them.
im not too worried about pulling them round , more the ability to make a temporary pen in far flung rented fields to catch an odd one with strike / feet or dose the lambs , Can make do, for the extra £4-5000 for alloy set up cost

If you're leaving them set up in grazing away from home, probably for the best that they're not expensive ali ones. Rappas/Prattleys were getting stolen to order last summer, I believe.

no wouldnt leave set up , steel or ally would get nicked round here , we have 48 parcels of land mostly set stocked all summer ,not large numbers maybe 30-50 in the bigger blocks , its a hassle having to catch anything with a problem over and above trailer capasity . Quite liked the rappa buggy 8 set-up be big enough for us , but hard to justify £000s tied up

I do that with some annoying blocks/ fields to, just run a maximum of 36 ewes so 2x8’ and 2x6’ tied onto the side of the 12’ box and I know I can load the whole lot in 1 move.

They’d definitely do well enough in a lot of situations, but I was referring to @CollCrofter ‘s post, saying they were struggling to drag steel ones.

I bought a buggy 8 about 18 months ago speckled it with some extra hurdles, can easily handle groups of up to 100 ewes with lambs, best money I've spent in a long time. Priced it against a similar steel system and there was only a couple of hundred pounds price difference.
