Seem to have a lot about this year
Probably been flooded out of their usual haunts
Have them in the grain store, but not taking poison.
Do the sticky pads work that you put where they run??

Cheers

They certainly work but you can also catch lots of other things, not nice trying to extricate little birds from them.

It took about a week for the rats to start eating the poison I put down. I use the bait stations with the clear tube so you can see what is going on with out having to keep opening them up.

When it comes to rats use every method available. Except sticky traps. They’re just too inhumane, especially for non target species, and small birds will go where you wouldn’t expect.

fen mark 4 trap very effective when set properly and can be left set 24 7 although if not checked regularly leave the safty catch on to see if it has been sprung this can lead to an immediate catch when reset

reduces the need for bait which they can avoid

To use sticky traps legally you have to check them regularly, either 8 or 12 hours and kill whatever is stuck to them. Not by chucking it in a bucket of water either. Traps, poison or the gun are the only viable option but first place to start is removing shelter and availability of feed.

Difficult when you have straw and TMR...

The trick to trapping rats is to have them down and set before the scouts arrive.

I also hand feed my hens now so no feed lying around. It's easy to do once a day when I take the dogs out.
