most are reducing synthetic use - ours has more than halvedWhy are so called regen arable farmers still using very high rates of non organic fertiliser?
The point Sid is trying to make is if there are no set rules to cover regen farming one can
basically make it up as you go along.
Is that partly due to a mix of winter cover crop/spring planting?most are reducing synthetic use - ours has more than halved
but it doesn’t claim to be organic, isn’t something a membership fee is charged for and doesnt sell for a premium
ie NOTHING like red tractor or organic
So why all the big show then?most are reducing synthetic use - ours has more than halved

The point is regen means nothing, anyone can be regen on 1 field. Trying to sell this to a supermarket is a lie.
So why all the big show then?
Surely it's just proper farming?
Most have reduced, if I feed 1kg of concentrate less to my cows I have reduced my bought in feed cost, but I may have less output as well.
I hope you explain the whole concept to the supermarket, how you are righting a wrong and it will be years before you have repaired all the damage done.
I have Tesco top management here on the 29th to talk regen ag and carbon
I really can see no relevance to this thread whatsoever, do you just aim to distract from the point
You brought up the fact you were seeing Tesco top brass and discussing regen
Think sid means that if it's not broken you can't be called a fixer, but if you look after it so that it doesn't break your a maintainerNot sure what your point is. Your great and we are all crap ?
Didn't make any assumption, apart from the fact you have broken you farm so you need to regenerate it and Tesco may or may not think that's wonderful.I am but you make the assumption it's about a brand/premium/assurance for regen ............... its not, our meeting is about something completely different (which is frankly none of your business)

Wonder if they let people who have stolen from them and are reformed criminals back in their stores after they have banned them. If not they are hypocrites.
You are being very silly. No one has broken their farm.
I know a couple who've committed abh.You are being very silly. No one has broken their farm.
Then why the need to regenerate it?
It's a rehabilitation approach.
If its not broken why "fix" or " regenerate" or "rebuild" the soil, flora, fauna, carbon, etc.
Perhaps I should invite Tesco to my farm and tell them how I haven't regenerated it. Do you think they would be interested?
Sounds like everything is perfect. I'm trying to improveSomeone gets my point.
But you can't because you have nothing to regenerate. IE you didn't abuse, break, damage it in the first place.
Calling yourself regenerative is a lie.
Surely everyone could benefit from using less?Is that partly due to a mix of winter cover crop/spring planting?
Still loads of farmers on the fertiliser thread using well over 200kilos N ha
on their feed wheats who are direct drillers.
Your right that it doesn't claim to be organic but it does portray itself to be
more enviromentaly friendly than the standard system so surely a large reduction
on synthetic fertiliser should be part of being a regen farmers aim.
That would be why sales groew 12.6%in 2020.Maybe you should, yes. But the organic product is pretty mature and generally people don't want it
Yes obviously but why is a mixed farmer using a plough worse for the enviroment than an all arable farmer using a direct drill?Surely everyone could benefit from using less?
