What sort of money is the chip do you know?I don’t no about a disco but someone told me the chip on there hilux easily paid for itself in the first year just on fuel saved
Haven’t a clue proberly best getting someone like derv doctor to map it thoWhat sort of money is the chip do you know?
“Chip” or chipping it is a historic term, from the “olden days” when tuners used to have to swap the EEPROM memory chip containing the engine map. Hence the meaning of “chipped”What sort of money is the chip do you know?
So what does a remap cost and will it improve the mpg?“Chip” or chipping it is a historic term, from the “olden days” when tuners used to have to swap the EEPROM memory chip containing the engine map. Hence the meaning of “chipped”
Now with the exception of Steinbauers and their ilk, tuners rarely swap over any chips, they just re-program the existing ECU. Better known as a re-map or just “mapped or mapping”
Clear as mud m’Lord?
Depends who’s doing it. Upwards from £500 typically. The second question is almost impossible to answer as it is completely subjective. I’ve never mapped anything with intention of improving economy fwiw.So what does a remap cost and will it improve the mpg?
Well it doesn’t need remapping for more power...it’s tyre shredding now! It’s economy it needsDepends who’s doing it. Upwards from £500 typically. The second question is almost impossible to answer as it is completely subjective. I’ve never mapped anything with intention of improving economy fwiw.
I presume its the 8sp Auto you have? if so it cant be running many revs in top gear surely?Well it doesn’t need remapping for more power...it’s tyre shredding now! It’s economy it needs
So it might need a de-map?Well it doesn’t need remapping for more power...it’s tyre shredding now! It’s economy it needs
Yea alive tuning are pretty switched on I reckonContact alive tuning, as they are believed to be one of the best in the business at remapping and tuning d3 &4s
however, after enquiring about it with their local agent, I was told that any increase in mpg was a bonus after a remap
Yes the 8sp auto it’s the commercial so not sure how much weight could be shed as the inside looks like a shed!I presume its the 8sp Auto you have? if so it cant be running many revs in top gear surely?
Cant see you getting much more MPG out of one its a fairly powerfull 4x4 even by pickup standards it will eat most of them at the lights surely?
