I have approached various companies who advertise wanting land for solar farms and never hear back from them, we have capacity and a connection nearby is it because im in the north east of England I never hear back from them ?

how do you know if you have capacity?

they will discriminate against your northern roots by saying they will receive less sunlight on your land!

Ours, had a full land based scan and then from that they had to put I think it was 68 trenches 15m long by 1.2w then the Time Team type bods spent weeks there. Bloody Romans!!

Same here
Full geophys scan ( great for detecting drains and Romans)
Then trenching .... as MrNoo said. 50M long about 1-5 m wide and as deep as necessary
Then the lovely archeology lit poking around for as long as it takes

I found it fascinating

All the pre-work was done using geophys. Very interesting seeing the mapping afterwards where we could confirm what had originally been a stream line, possibly centuries ago. However, when we get flooding, the water still follows that course, even now the panels are in...

Happily, we had no diggers here, until the solar farm went in!

Yes, I found that too, amazing to see the correlation of yield linked to underground features etc. The Solar Co abandoned one field as it had too much "stuff" in it and another was Geofizzed but only 3/4 of the field was destined for solar. The Time Team bods were very excited about the remaining 1/4 and even wanted to explore it in their own time but I declined the offer.
Well, they have finally started here, been in the last 3 weeks, fencing going up and main compound being constructed and trackways due to be installed shortly. Actually impressed with the quality of their workmanship so far, they were even putting tarmac down!!

I dont exactly know as they re-designed it again, but it is 84ac with swiveling panels and bat storage on an 11 or 12Mw connection, they call it a hybrid, importing and exporting elec obviously with the storage. Very much the same as their Hull solar farm (for Warrington Borough Council, who are also taking all the elec from this one)
