Few pics of what the EA have been doing, when it was built in 1651 the river had an average depth of 6ft, it was lined with clay by Scottish prisoners, the river now sits about 15ft above tens of thousands of acres of the best land in the country.
Apparently the contractor wasn’t supervised and had no spec to work to, going by the length of the jib it would appear that he is digging down about 10ft and digging the clay bed out going through to the peat below.
The EA have now walked away blaming farmers for halting the work, leaving a he spoil where it is

They are putting the spoil on top of the cradge bank, this bank was designed to be at a critical level so that in flood situations the bank overtops allowing water into the Washes and relieving pressure on the barrier bank.

The bank is already starting to collapse into the river due to being undermined.

EA, another f**k up of a paper pushers. Looks at least in this case they are following the first rule of holes.
I am reminded when I had a small pond at the farm which had like they all do died after filling with leaves and other sediment. I engaged a driver with a digger to do the de silting. As he was working i noticed one end was very shallow so suggested that he took at least another couple of feet out.
His response was certainly not as it was a lined pond and to do that would certainly cause the pond to stop holding water.
I learnt a good lesson that day!

It certainly uses some posh words and job titles , the contractor was instructed to demobilise from site or Members of the asset performance team conducted a site walkover, they certainly know how to use a lot of words where a few will do.
The phrase bullsh!t baffles brains springs to mind

Sorry @le bon paysan, I didn’t mean to quote you in that

On further thought, I think their use of such language is to belittle those who have pointed out their wrong doing , they are trying to portray an image of superiority

Jargon to paper over the gaps. Not up to Sir Humphrey standard, so the letter was composed by an underling sub-Bernard.

Bit worried that the river will have a gaping hole in it until the next "environmental window" opens (windows close and open, not end and begin again, shirley?) ~ whatever "environmental window" means.

'They are approaching the end of the environmental window' wtf just get on with it.
Indeed, we are approaching the end of autumn/beginning of winter, what are the possibilities of things going wrong, possibly on a disastrous scale if something isn’t done?
Could possibly go as far as saying their window of opportunity to do something to prevent a disaster is coming to an end..............and what have they done? Demobilised from site!
