Robotic milking

Does anyone else find they can't trust what the lely robots say they have fed each month? Every time I get a new load of cake blown into both my bins from almost empty, they always reckon they have more in than they actually have. This last time one bin reckoned it had 5 tonne in when it had nearer few hundred kg. I calibrate once a month. I clean the feed mechanism off once a month also because of build of cake on it. They have done this for the 6 years I've had them.

Are you sure the right ammount is delivered. If you calibrate and are out by that ammount I'd either calibrate more often of query weigh tickets. At £200 a tonne that's nearly a grand out.

Never bothered doing the maths BUT what did exercise me was the difference between what the tanker collected on the ticket & the % ppl Lely used to take on a Master Contract before they scrapped it. Never correlated but the signed contract stated that it was the T4C figure and not the tanker figure.

Anyway, all history now

My 2 year old Atlas GX4 compressor dryer membrane has just packed up and i have an extended 5 year warranty on it and it gets serviced at correct intervals. It was clogged up with dust from the bedding on the cubicles. Supplier says warranty won't cover it but should it do you think?

Did anyone question its positioning and raise the issue on installation or when serviced ? If no should be covered. Farms have dust wet and muck. Within reason kit installed should be able to cope and fit for purpose.
Good luck.

Not sure they did. I think I need to put an extractor fan in to draw fresh air into the compressor room
Turns out it was actually the membrane drier that gets the dew point down to -20 because GX can't do it on its own. The membrane is 6 year old so it's probably due for a change anyway. Wasn't expecting £1000 [emoji50]
Between now and Monday when it will arrive, I'm not looking forward to seeing how many festo valves are going to need replacing [emoji30]
Think I've spent around £2500 on festo valves in about 3 years thanks to compressors or driers packing up. Do other robots rely on such dry air going through them?

Lely A2 needs dry air , I got a 2nd hand drier a good few years ago for IIRC £200 and its been fine but it is in a clean shipping container.

Replaced the first festo valve a couple of months ago, after 5.5 years. Didn't have Lely's compressor package at the time, bought my own screw compressor and fridge drier. On my second drier, but there are not dear. Recently moved everything into a 10' shipping container outside the shed to get away from the dust.

This is my next project, if I can convince the planners

One off these linked to an old propane tank would supply most of the composed air requirements with little running cost.

They're all the same, pedometers and collars. The battery in all of them will die. Some after 1 or 2 years, some after 5 or 6.

There's been thread after thread on here from users of every brand of collar and pedometer bemoaning their lifespan.

We solved this problem for ourselves by repairing all broken transponders. Our service engineers repair transponders with rumination at 50£ per piece. Of course, it's not cheap, but it's better for us than buying transponders 100£ for a piece
