Robotic milking

In the morning once, before wash at 8am.

does anyone have an emergency back up air compressor of some kind? In case the main atlas sf4 goes down?I just had to quickly plumb in the workshop one 3hp/150L but was just short of puff so when robots were using alot of air at same time it wouldn't keep up so robots kept shutting down. So had to stay up till lely arrived to swap to wires about on pressure switch.

was thinking bigger workshop compressor or 2nd hand atlas one or similar, so I couls just turn taps to swap over.

When our SF4 compressor broke down, we ordered an internal compressor element in the assembly. Later another element was ordered for stock.

Now, I have spare parts for the next 7 years,
and in the event of a breakdown, I can rearrange the compressor element for two hours. It cost us 5000£ for each, together with detailed instructions for self-replacement. While the local dealer offered to buy a new compressor at a price of 8500£ and claimed that it was impossible to change the internal element:mad::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Did you get team viewer up n running on a sunday morning then? Is that for alarms as well?

The HMI (touch screen on the robot) packed up tried the proven method of turning it off and back on but didnt do anything and then couldnt clear the power failure alarm on the robot then so had to wait for new screen to be brought out thankfully still on parts warranty. Screen had old software on it so had to get it updated but neither fullwood tech or dealer tech could log on to comp as teamviewer was updating servers so had to download another remote access program so they could do it. 5 hours down in the end so not a disaster. Teamviewer was back working by midnight, couldnt have timed it any worse!

Have you ever seen the 'live demo's' run by Lely at some of the agricultural shows? They are on straw, seems to work well as long as there is a relatively clean, unbedded area in front of the robot.
Think the secret is to keep the straw away from the grid in the floor, our separation pen was straw bedded for about a week, soon blocked the grid so its now sawdust.

trying to milk pretty straight forward uddered cow tonight after she calved early before really bagging up and after about 4 minutes of attempts to attach teat cups it suddenly stopped scanning and just sat in a perfect milking position under the cow with the pulsator running , I went to the x link presuming to find the arrow screen , but no just the milking screen , so I pressed reconnect teat cups , guided the arm in and had another go , after 3 or 4 attempts it did the same , just sitting there following the cow as she moved with the pulsator on ,but the cups not attached , so I switched off the air and manually attached , simples , cow milked out , and is now safe to leave over night for another attempt tomorrow , if this has been deliberately written into the software then well done Lely (y)(y)

Right , scrap all of that , it's back to it's old tricks of no pulsation on arrow screen .. GRRRRRRRRRRR

I don't understand why Lely do it, surely it would be so easy for a programmer to allow it to manually attach, I have 3-4 cows here that wouldn't be here if couldn't have manually attached for the first week or so one of which is doing 65kg a day now. It was the biggest negative I saw with Lely robots!

65kg a day...that's going to be interesting feeding organically!

Every time Lely ring up to do their survey thing I tell them this. They haven't listened yet.

Yes me too , the Dutch guy doing the survey just laughed and said ' Yes , I hear that a lot !' , Can't see why they bother wasting their money on the survey when they just ignore it

Ditto ......... machine has to learn those titties (although I will say that one of the best things to come out of Holland has been the Jersey box we validated for them last year ... and 18mm liners for the heifers)

weve been running over 2 years now and I can honestly say I have never wished I had a way to manual attach, we are on a4s so I don't know if that makes a difference

We are on a4 also and just find it frustrating with a heifer sometimes if she fidgets a bit on the first milking. the machine keeps scanning them maybe gets one cup on and can't find the other teats so pulls it off again, and the heifer just gets more excited. Would be nice to be able to press a button and manually attach the cups after it scans a couple of times before the heifer gets to the frustrated stage. Having said that we got a software update a month ago which they said would make first attachment quicker. No heifers calving here until September so we'll see then.
