I have always bought a compound previously but have a really decent fertiliser applicator and always tray test so was persuaded by price saving to try a blend . I have had it stored undercover and only been delivered 3 weeks and it has set like concrete is this sort of expected with a blend or can I send it back ?

Speak to your supplying merchant and they will usually get the manufacturers rep to come and see and then go from there. They usually replace / offer discount / or do nothing. Bouncing the bags before using will usually sort a mild case . Laying the bags on their side and carefully rolling them with the flat base of a bucket will vastly improve very badly set fertiliser, but is time consuming.

Send it back, the stuff is dear enough with out having the bother of breaking up the lumps. If you sold a load of wheat full of lumps you could be sure it would be back
Had two loads sent back earlier on in the spring, the first load didn’t get unloaded, the second load went hard after a few days which they replaced, last year had the same with a load of blue bag nitrogen, 1 bag was cut open and the lump was that hard it broke the grids and the weigh cell on the spreader.Took a while for claim to be sorted, shouldn’t happen with the price of the fert now, and it’s dangerous with rock hard lumps falling from a height.
