Rocker arms

There's been one of those annoying oil leaks at the rocker cover on our MF 8150, had a bit of time this afternoon to sort it out. Pulled the cover off, and started cleaning around the gasket, and noticed that 4 out of the 6 rocker arms weren't sitting tight on top of the valves, is this normal? Don't want to seal the cover if they need looking about.

They should not sit on the valve stem during the compression and firing part of the cycle. The clearance should be checked and set to the clearance in the manual with the cam follower on the back of the cam

I know there's 'The-rule-of-nine' on four pot motors. I believe the rule of 13 is for six-pot. As I've never owned a six-pot (only V8's), please confirm before adjusting. The R-O-9 works well & providing you know when to do, ie hot or cold & the clearances this job is then so simple.
