Thank you everyone for your replies, I bit the bullet today, wheat looked forward enough so squished it with the flat roll :nailbiting:

despite Cambridge rolling pre emergence there was still plenty of dust about and it's definitely firmed the ground up,

Weather it will help it tiller, remains to be seen, I Have left one test pass untouched in the middle of the field for comparison as time goes on :bookworm:

Nearly 2 weeks has past since flat rolling... It went yellow, looked awful and father cursed me

But following some rain it was desperately needing it's looking good. So was it the rolling or the rain? The strip I didn't roll looks taller but thinner, anyway here's a closer look...

I rolled some at 1 leaf stage. You can still see stripes from different ways its lying! Looks like fertiliser seriously stripped, but rolled it at an angle to tramlines so not that.

Anyone else had this?

I’m seeing a lot more black grass plants growing in the wheelings where I rolled mine. Didn’t leave any areas unrolled to see if any different.
Looked very pretty for a few days but can’t see any lines in the crop now.
