frank - is the clover short because its never been able to express its self?>

Kent Wild White is a very small leafed clover variety that grows very close to the ground, hence standing continuous sheep grazing. It would never grow tall, even if it were left, it would stay at ground level and get swamped out as the grass blocked the light.

we are dry and acid but there are plants out there that will grow
like yer saying sites of interest is coming in here. new laws in shire plans will mean alot of stuff can't be touched tussocks here under new plan can be grazed but not burnt plowed under cleared etc etc same with some scrub and trees

Prehaps some of the more native but improved grasses would take on the drier moors, but the other problem for us locally would be that the deer would home in on it.


Trouble is without burning as a tool, the grazing deteriorates and can't be reset, it's happening on 10's of 1000s of acres in the uk.... mind you a tourist with a disposable bbq sometimes sparks up a mega summer fire
