Roundup/generic and 2,4D??

Ollie , I sprayed under post and rail fence , round garden about 6 weeks ago ,
Wife grew on about 70 sunflowers with intention of putting one in front of every post , which she did , the bit I sprayed , sunflowers are slowly dieing about 3 rd of fence was done and they about gone
Wonder what mcpa 24d. Starane mix has for residual time ,
And neighbour had a mint problem in a patch , so it had 100 ltr n27 and 24d glyphosate No mint now

If you look on the label it often does say things like in case of crop failure do not sow species X,Y or Z for X weeks after application... Sunflowers I understand are quite sensitive to some herbicides.

Have you owned up to it, or kept schtum?
Oh she knows , did her shrubs at same time ,
so they say molasses. Helps with Chem damage so mixed a brew in watering can. And put a tiny tiny drop of advance 66 in to it also. ?‍♂️ All the leaves are crispy black now. Kill or cure. But it’s 6 weeks since sprayed ..sunflowers been in ground week ten days. So wtf. Plant some more will take you a pic when get home ?

@neilo ones not near fence ok

without looking at the label I can’t remember, but I do know there is a long plantback from 24D for most broadleaf crops, including sunflowers, cotton, legumes etc . . .

I wonder what the rates are.... in NZ of course.

you’ve only got to google the relevant labels on the NZ or AUS websites of the relevant chemical manufacturers, to get the label rates

but - different environmental conditions, different legislations, different plant species . . .

personally, I wouldn’t recommend doing anything “off label” without a permit

Case in point of differing climate etc...

As above, Google is your friend.?

I’ve only ever used Kyleo at 5l/ha and with a water conditioner. It appears to do the same as a healthy dose of glyphosate and little more. Most places I’ve used it have been specifically to clear buttercups and nettles, where it has burnt the top off well......then they grow back.
I’ve always been disappointed with it, especially considering the cost vs generic glyphosate, and I doubt if I’ll ever use it again.

That would be my feeling too from my use this year. I was chasing buttercups on one block, and they were not that impressed. I suspect looking back, that my (now) occasional agronomist was agreeing with me when I got the OK for Kyleo :)

Very interesting chart Roy, thank you....

Full whack rate really do have a serious effect on the following crops from the reading of those recommended spray/planting periods.

yes it can, & environmental effects ( ie rainfall / heat ) can also affect the plant back period

all of this sort of information is a legal requirement of the labels on all our chemical drums / containers & must always remain on them. It is in theory illegal to decant chemical into another container ( for storage ) that doesn’t have the correct label on it.
It is also has to be available for public access on their websites

Are your chemical drums / labels / laws the same ?
I realise every market / country has different legislative requirements
