Russian/ukraine war predictions

just hope you are right, but you can't second guess a nutter.
What worries me, is public opinion affecting common sense, and making intervention a real possibility. And the fact that the sanctions are to effective, and as one top brass russian said, our only weapon against sanctions, is nuclear. Back a nutter into a corner, without a 'get out path' there's no way of knowing what he will do.
Not sure being right on this would be a good outcome for the West, far too many arguments on migrant numbers already, somehow forcing Putin to an agreement to allow the Ukrainian population to stay put even under Russian control would be better, how many other non EU/NATO countrie's residents may feel it's a very sensible time to head for the West under the cover of a Ukrainian exodus & how could you possibly tell who"s who?

Putin isnt going to use nuclear weapons, he is scared of death and /or a world without him. He knows a nuclear strike would mean his own death too. No strong leader sits 30+ft away from his staff and hides away doing video links when his country isnt even under attack , hes a coward and not willing to die for his cause. Im happy for western leaders to call his bluff and i accept the outcome either way.
He doesn't need to , like Trump just let your enemies think you are mad enough to do anything is more than enough.

Whats the west going to do if putin threatens nuclear war unless sanctions are lifted? Call the cowards bluff i say.

I think the west will have to intervene but too late to save a lot of lives and destruction
he miscalculated the strength of Ukrainian resistance, he miscalculated Europe's, and the Worlds response, he thought he would just walk in, and take over, and things have made 'his' plan, look stupid, and he then looks stupid, that is the danger, he seriously wont like that.
He can easily be compared to Hitler, Ukraine was the 'first' step in restoring the USSR, unlike Hitler, he's failed at stage one, but the rhetoric is the same.
Unfortunately, public opinion may make intervention probable, Nato has the ability to drive him out, if every member supports it, but, what will he do then ? Nobody knows, nuclear, ground war, or ideally, like hitler, he shoots himself.
But its scary dangerous times, and perhaps one positive that comes out of it, is that it 'wakes' Europe up, to realise peace is not a forgone conclusion, and there is a need to protect its self, to stop anything like this, recurring.

perhaps we need to realise, Russian ethics, are not the same as ours, they don't give a #### about how many die, either theirs, or Ukrainian.

Does anyone have any answers?
The bombing of the power station shows how desperate the job is. It’s concerning that these important and complicated power plants are either taken over by different people or bombed like last night.

One glimmer of hope, maybe they are not quite so nuts... I find it significant that with a power station with 6 reactors, they target and set fire to a training block. Obviously they are trying to show just how high the stakes can be to force a surrender

Putin's dream slowly coming to pass, gives you a sick feeling, doesn't it?
He's probably lining up more countries to fall already and no NATO country will stand in his way as long as they're not NATO countries being attacked.
Can't figure out the how Kremlin are eager to turn a war nuclear, have they got some immunity to plutonium?

That’s more or less the way I interpreted it. They’re trying to turn of the electricity, the nuclear power plant provides 1/4 of all Ukrainian electricity, without full scale Armageddon.

It is time Zelensky and the Klitschko brothers shipped out to the USA where they can avoid a novichok sandwich. Let the Ruskies have all the cities to avoid unnecessary deaths and destruction. They can tell all the Ukrainians to hide their weapons and run a guerrilla war. No way 120,000 troops can deal with a country of 40 million who are against them. We can keep supplying them with Stingers and anti tank weapons and the Turks can send more drones. Neither the ruskies or us could deal with the Afghans so Putin will have the same result in Ukraine as he had there.

funny, I was thinking it’s time that the non mayor Klitschko and Putrid were put in a room together for a fight to the death

How is he a coward when he is willing to defend his country from a possible future foreign invasion if military bases are constructed in Ukraine? The Ukranians have been played like the Kurds, they are fighting Americas war whilst they sit at home and watch. Why should America sacrifice their man power?

America did the same in Afghanistan against Russia, they supplied the arms to the Afgans and built up a nice debt for Afghanistan to pay at a future date, the bankers and politicians are shrewd businessmen.

If I were Ukraine I would be looking how to send a team to quietly sabotage Nord Stream 1 whilst framing some other party for the attack... Whilst it would economically cripple Europe the loss of revenue for Russia would surely sink it...
Ukraine get transit fees for that gas, the purpose of Nord Stream 2 was that it avoided other territory and Russia got all the revenues. Kind of shooting yourself in the foot.
