The lift arms don`t lift and sometimes do the hydraulic top link does not work, and then sometimes the lift arms will lift up but very juddery, then when they are up they sometimes won`t go down, it`s all a bit of a mystery can anyone shed some light, could it be the pump packing in ?

Had the clutch pack started breaking up?
From memory I had to change the hydraulic pump on ours at around two thousand hours, slow pumping, but didn’t have have any problems with lift sticking! Does it stick at full lift and is under constant pumping when stuck?

yes the clutch pack had started to break up , I was wondering if the pump is not pushing enough pressure then the clutch would be slipping and that would cause it to break up, the lift arms are strange I can start up from cold and they might work one day then the next time won't , then when they lift sometimes they stay up and wont go down, sometimes if I rev the engine then the arm may go up but very juddery and other times just won't work at all, I have never changed the pump and have had the tractor for 20 years now, she's been a good tractor and I am sure will be good for a lot longer yet, the good thing is you can open the tool box and fix her, don't need a computer

also when she is on the round baler its a bit slow lifting the tail gate to let the bale out and have to rev to get pressure on the chamber

Sounds to me like you may need a new pump, how many hours on the tractor?
As for the occasional sticking, there could be fragments or simply a fragment of the clutch pack getting stuck in the lift valve. Had this with a second hand Hurlimann I bought a few years back, hydraulic pump had broken up with the previous owner, and the dealer had cleaned out and replaced the pump, but when I bought it and drove it home the lift arms raised and stuck at full height with constant pumping, this tractor had electronic lift control so had a solenoid operated shuttle valve, which when I stripped had a tiny fragment of metal from the broken pump jamming the valve from returning.

Hi there, with regards the same silver PTO clutch, yes I did change it myself, it is not the most easy of jobs but once you get into it it`s not so bad

I have a Hurlimann xt908 which I think is a re badged silver 80. Also need to change the pto clutch and fit a new pto shaft. When you did yours did you manage to do it from the rear with the cab still on?

Hi, yes I did manage to refit the PTO clutch with the cab on but did have to jack it up on the back also remove the bonnet to allow the cab to tilt forward slacken off or remove the two front bolts holding the cab down, be carful not to stretch the hand brake cable, and watch out for the gear change controls

Many thanks for that. Just started taking it apart.
