What parts of the farm were both lots on? Spoke to someone today that was told by a scanner that there have been a few disappointing scans in D&G but a lot of good ones in Ayrshire.

(This is tongue in cheek but you never know lol)
Well funny you should mention that but my swale tups were in D&G and the blues were in Ayrshire..... All the good things (and people come from D&G) 😁😁😁

Managed to finally sit down and look at individual scan groups.

“A” flock of pure llyens to ped Lleyn rams have done 219% with only 1 empty and Only 1 single.

Should have some great rams to sell next year I hope.

Ewes and Shearlings. Too many empty. Other than that a good scan. 40 less triplets than last year but they’ve swapped too twins instead. 300 of them were shearlings, 220 of which reared lambs last year as hoggs.

The empties, did they rear twins as hoggs or reared nothing? I had 2 groups which were higher than normal empty, one group none of them had reared before and the other they’d almost all reared twins as hoggs

mixture of ages. But some of the empty shearlings I can probably account for. I bought a lot of hoggs and lambs last spring too get numbers back up. I bought a ruck out of J36 some of which looked like they’d had a bad home and would grow out with a bit of TLC. Long story short, they didn’t grow out. Weaned them early, all the doses and boluses then sent away on keep too a damn good farm. The rest have grown like weeds and are full of lambs. These bad sorts have grown frame but bugger all flesh. (I’m blaming a bad type of swale for a mother at this point) I’ve been watching them all winter thinking they need shifting. Well now they’ve made it an easy choice! Will be on the hopper tomorrow for 3 weeks and away.
