Scanned yesterday afternoon, Easycares mainly bred 'pure' and about a third to a new Beltex/Texel tup:

6 empty
53 singles
129 twins
15 triplets

203 total, 175%.

Really pleased with that, 8% up on last year and just about ideal for my system. Was a bit worried as they were tight enough for grass second half of tupping and had Storm Arwen to deal with! They are in very good order at the moment.

OK as 60 were hoggs and we mostly lamb outside although the longer this good weather continues the more I fear a sting in the tail come March/ April

Yes I know. This weather is ideal for wintering stock outside but how long will it last?

Pretty happy with the numbers but is the highest number of empties we have had.

Just got those ewes scanned, pretty happy, not many yeld and not many triplets. Alot of twins, 190percent on one lot, not had as good a go for afew years.

Just scanned this little lot of ewe lambs. 130%. Very happy with that.

Not really ecstatic about the scanning accuracy of Flock A. Giving benefit of the doubt atm, but at what point do people get fed up with 2s becoming 3s, and doubles out of triplet marked?

Very glad they're indoors.

As long as scanner is doing them at the right time should be 99% correct surely? Otherwise why bother?

Scanned at the right time, but it's a niggle. Will bear the 99% in mind, as well as reminding that everyone has the odd off day.

Every year my scanner is absolutely perfect, scanned 3 weeks early this year too try snd catch the early lambers too in one go and had 5 wrong… few years ago had a scannner from wales that was waste of time, had singles having triplets, triplets having singles was a nightmare

Had a scanner like that the very first year we scanned . Rather important to know what to expect when the flock was highly prolific, and above average numbers.

Goes to show that a good scanner is vital!

It was quite wet over the weekend, after a very dry few weeks. Looks like we'll get fairly strong winds and rain tomorrow but Friday just looks like a bit of sleet with us, then brightening up gradually and good again next week.

down 4% on year. Only 3%empty just too many singles. they are on the way out my system, just cant get enough out of them despite giving them everything

540 Aberfield and highlander 179%
delighted with that . Only 40 trips and 2quads ideal for mid April outside lambing

Pretty much spot on, only problem is 82 shearlings with twins in them

Why is that a problem? Premature ageing?

Would much prefer shearlings to just have 1 lamb then they can get away to the fell, too many twins puts too much pressure on our inbye grazing, twins takes too much out of swaledale shearlings, you just end up with 3 bad sheep, rather the same principle as mule hoggs with twins
