Sealey BT2020 Vehicle Finder - cheaper alternative to a Tracker?

Came across the Sealey BT2020 finder, a small battery monitor unit that doubles as a vehicle finder/tracker, it is small, a bit larger than an SD Card.

There is a QR code on the module, you scan and set up an account and it records vehicle data including performance and where it was used.

Looks a great solution for ATV and UTV applications as it is unobtrusive, good if they have also taken the keys too and start the vehicle up, you can see the location.

The data is downloadable in Excel format for up to 30 days from creation. Carpenter Goodwin of Leominster have some.

As far as I can see it's not a tracker.

It pairs with an app on your phone and monitors battery voltage and also records where you last stopped the car via the app.

I don't believe it has a SIM card for remote tracking.

Happy to be corrected though.

It's not a Tracker in the usual sense, but it does pretty much the same job - when the ignition is switched on again, it records that GPS location, this is ideal if the vehicle has been stolen along with the keys. This might be useful for the Police if a location is recorded they are not familiar with which could lead them to a new 'outfit' stealing machinery. Unlike a conventional Tracker, it does record vehicle engine use/performance and the routes driven. For the money it's quite useful for what it provides.

You'd have to be next to it with your phone to download any location information.

It doesn't have a SIM card or any other method of communication other than Bluetooth to the app.

Still no use as a tracker.

It records data historically, so it does have some use in that Tracker type function.

What it does is show where the vehicle was driven, how it was driven and the last place the ignition system was activated. All of these benefits could be useful in stolen vehicle recovery which was really my point.

It is a simple module and has no SIM as you are correct there, the beauty of the unit is it is quite easy to conceal and relatively inexpensive.

It is that old thing of how much you want to pay for a unit like this, it is certainly better than not having some sort of unit on the vehicle.
