Got second cut on 20 acre, 135 bales compared to 90 of first cut, then 20ish acres of old grass pasture we shut up at the same time and got 83 bales off that Got some seed ordered for that to try make it grow better next year. Total bales from first and second cut (about 40 acres of both) will total about the same as first cut on 40 acres last year Need a long dry back end to leave the cows out after selling calves in October
Heck! That sounds good not bad:eek:

4 weeks later than normal but should have a decent heap of 2nd cut. No prizes for the quality though.

Just got home from spending a couple of days in northhamptonshire visiting the Burghley horse trials. A hell of a lot less grass up there than Carmarthenshire
We had about 7.5 bales to the acre total for first cut. Cut second cut today. Looks a storming crop. Hopefull for 9 bales an acre on one field!
Haylage very short in Wales!

With no rain in the next 7 days it will be going back again

And the forecasters know what exactly?
It was raining here all morning, after a damp night. At lunchtime I watched the BBC forecasters telling me that it had been cloudy but there was no rain in it.:banghead:
Rain very welcome here though, as still have cracks in the ground, and perfect for the 15ac of grass seed I slot seeded in yesterday evening. Unfortunately not quite so good for the 25ac of Spring Barley still standing (thankfully) in the fields, or the neighbours’ straw that has been sitting in damp swathes for a fortnight now.

Just done 40 acre 2nd cut. 1st was cut 6th of June. Didn't go mad with fert just 3200kg over the 40 acre. Got 4.5 bales of silage. We 're in Lancashire on a deep soil farm

Mine is currently getting rained on ..... alot of wet drizzle , rather frustrating as i had my chance on Sunday and thought id risk another day and try to get it into pit dry to save bedding straw.
