4 would do no problem 20 acres a day! What size of tractor have you got to pull it. I'd guess a 5 furrow would probably be about right for that acreage. You want to be able to get on with the job when the weather's good.
Also how much roughly is the contractor costing for that.
Depends if you have 5 days spare to sit on it or not.4 would do no problem 20 acres a day!
Then don’t buy it .Depends if you have 5 days spare to sit on it or not.
Kverneland are fairly easy to set and keep running. Try to avoid Vari-width ones as the bushes do like to wear out and not the cheapest to replace.
I bet there's not been a new 3 furrow plough sold in the UK for 30 years! We took a lemken!

Its not funny that you can buy new machinery! Its impressive, I do farm a quite a lot more than you but I have never bought a new machine, in fact i think everything I own is 10 years old minimum. Glad its going well for you. What crops do you grow?I am from Slovenia. We work 30 ha and we are big farmers there. I now it's funy for you.

I have a 5 furrow for 750 acres a year. We had a 3 furrow till we passed 375 acres/year.
If you don’t have time to use a machine, don’t buy it, as it’s much cheaper to have someone else do it.
Here you get a much nicer and newer 4 furrow for the same money as a worn out 5 furrow.
For the op’s acreage it’s all about finding what suit the tractor and is value for money in my opinion.
3 furrow for 375 acres by you must have liked to watch paint dry . the most i did with 3 furrows was about 250 acres then up to 700 odd with a 4 then got a 5 which i still have now but use it less as the sumo dose quite a bit depending on the year and how much i feel needs ploughing .
