Securing a load in a pick up. Tie down points

I have recently purchased a mk 7 hilux. When idly poking about in the back I realised that it seems to only have 4 lashing points. As I have a roller shutter, that appears to blank off the front 2. Plus they are all half way up for some inexplicable reason.
Currently, if I went to the builders merchant and bought a few lengths of timber I would expect to scatter them all over the road on the way home.
Am i right in thinking that there are no other threaded points for attaching hooks and I am going to have to drill through the tub into the chassis if I want some extra ones?
Cheers
