Security chain/lock

I bet they do chuckle to themselves, as they cut a gate up with a hydraulic rescue shear.
Was in a supply store some yrs ago, and a farmer was buying "security chain" he said how much he needed, and they handed him the 18" bolt croppers to go help himself.
Just buy any chain that will fit the size of padlock you want to pay for, you will only keep out the slightly dishonest ones anyway.

You haven't seen the gate! 😂
If it’s that heavy and dragging the floor as they do, then surely a bit of twine will suffice. 🤷‍♂️ At least it will blend in.;):ROFLMAO:

The square motorbike chain seems decent stuff, but you will need at least a 10 mm lock to match and those are £££ in combination format. I have a really good 10mm with a 5 number combination which has withstood the weather for 8 years without issue or lubrication. Unfortunately it belongs to a landlord and I haven’t been able to find another one like it.

Heavy lifting chain will take a long time to cut through with a cutting disc even when it is clamped in a vice. Depends how heavy you want to go.

They’ll never cut it next to the lock either, always half way along 😡

If you really don't want people getting in, don't bother with a chain, just make a shrouded catch with any cheap lock inside it. As long as your hands can get through and bolt cutters can't, it'll be fine.

Crooks around these parts will just drive the stolen ute straight through it, so I prefer a chain.
