I gather these packets of seeds randomly sent from China are appearing in this country as well as the US.

So what is it? Agricultural warfare?

I doubt there is any truth in it,but there will be plenty numpties willing to throw them away in the garden to see if they grow.A Chinese version of "The day of the Triffids" maybe?

Smuggled food and other items banned by international treaty I would guess they destroy.
Australia and NZ are pretty strict on what you can take in. Pretty much any unprocessed food stuff is a big no no and there is plenty of warnings before you get to customs. They take their biosecurity pretty seriously and for good reason.

It's not just imports. Try taking a header or baler from the eastern states into Western Australia. If they find one bit of residue its turned around. Fruit and vegetables crossing the SA border from Victoria is another no no. Big fines if you try and snuggle stuff past the checkpoint inspectors....and EVERY vehicle is stopped.

Could they be small packets of flower seeds; perhaps if someone could read Chinglish they could work out what the contents are.

I ordered some special dahlia seeds from China months ago and still no sign of them arriving here. :(

Out of interest ........... one lady in America received a small packet that was completely empty. As soon as I read the 'operator code' on the address label I laughed as I remembered a book called 'Operation Splinter Factor' that I once read some years ago.
