Had two people call round asking if i wanted any off the field , they had baled more than they needed but i wasnt interested . I dont think big squares will be making £40/bale like the last few years unless we have 3ft of snow in october. Dealers still seem keen to buy off the field but not sure what they are paying. Straws sales get into full swing this week, what will ryegrass stubbs make i wonder?

Maybe you will be right but all I know everyone around here was right out of silage-hay-maize etc , it needs a good year to have some carry over as insurance so if there is any £10 a bale hay grab it as I do think your being slightly optimistic , not wanting to come across funny thou.

I only asked the question really cos i baled some Sat and charged £20 for a 4ft round bale. I thought it was reasonable enough . You can't make it for nothing . He seemed happy enough but I'm told others are only asking £15 for a round bale .

You are doing well at 20 quid of the field , we move a fair bit of hay and have already had of offers to move surplus bales from a couple of folk for 12 pound a bale.

Bales here so far seem to be £3.50 - £6 for small bale hay. £6-8 for small haylage. £20 -35 large hay and £25-40 large haylage. Thats whats being advertised on various bits and bobs locally. People asking £10-£40 for last years wrapped bales still. It's a very horse filled area bales were hitting the £50 plus mark last winter

Some dipsticks selling small bale horse hay for £2.75 or less. I don't care how much is about, it is worth more than that!

Where have you seen that advertised at that money @farmerm? If its on fb then you usually get some selling off their surplus 1-200 at any old price just to get rid. A lot of the people round here who buy our little bales haven't got much storage so come Christmas and beyond they will be needing some and then have to pay full price. Hay in a barn is as good as money in the bank.

Yes it's still a long time until 1st April and even then there could be a foot of snow
