If Putin was assassinated, I would be concerned what would happen to Russia in the hours afterwards. There could be a power struggle. The new guy could be more nuts than the existing.

Apparently he has become very isolated and paranoid during the pandemic. There seems to be a serious question about his mental health and unfortunately there are very few brakes on his power.
