also 99% of crypto is going to be worthless at some point soon, people are putting their money to sleep hoping somebody else is going to buy it off them for more than they paid, or that its going to be used as currency.

I know people buying crypto who are saying, just want to have some in case, its total nonsense

my Nividia and AMD shares have been star performers this last 12 months - in a gold rush its the guys selling the shovels that make all the money

What do they do?

they both make GPU’s - the graphic cards that power crypto mining, online gaming and pretty much all computing. My SIP is looking a lot more healthy thanks to them

I see more and more Wall St types, are now saying crypto has a place in a balanced portfolio. Many fund managers now taking some positions on crypto, as a hedge against the US Dollar “going to pot”!
Regulated ETF funds are now available, which are based on crypto.

it’s here to stay like it or not (and there is a lot to like if you live in a dictatorship or country with million% inflation like Venezuela)

only way it stops is if the internet ends (unlikely !) It can nor be banned or shut down

its value however could become nothing …….. or everything ! I think "nothing" is extremely unlikely now however

risking more than you can afford to loose would be a massive mistake - equally risking having none could be an equally big mistake when it could become 100% of wealth in the future !

it has a very legitimate place in investment portfolios

I have a load, very volatile and is 24hrs a day, as Clive says you've got to be prepared to loose it but hope you dont.
A lot think it's a quick turn around, this time next week you'll be millionaires etc etc. Yes you can make an awful lot of money very quickly but the real rewards come from long term.
Although most crypto prices follow Bitcoin, so when it has a bad day the rest do too, have had a lot out of Polygon Matic of late. But it's not unusual to look on your phone and see your portfolio 40-50% down, it soon bounces back.!!

Is that holding actual currency or trading it. Can you get it out into sterling easily or is that not really the name of the game.

Just use eToro, buy as much as you want when you want, the spread is a pain but then no fees, cant have it all ways but does preclude you from day trading unfortunately. So no I dont actually have the coins etc, its just like using a trader and them hold all the shares etc.
Most is traded in $ but is very simple to get money out, just say how much and it normally is in your account within 2 days, you also have the exchange rate, so can make there or loose depending when you pull money out.
It's a simple very easy to use platform but the spread is a pain!!

If the web site disappears in the morning to never be seen again do you have any guarantees like the £80+K in a bank?
