Shearing 2021

Strangely; got a call today to shear some ewes out of the blue, 20 odd Jacobs, did them last five years ago and they had creepy crawlies. Wonder what happened to the person who has done them since? Anyway, declined the opportunity, didn't even get to talking cash ££££

I’ve only done about 200 so far, pedigree tups and ewe hoggs, and they haven’t been anything flash.
Ive got 2 places booked in for the weekend, but the phone has started to ring now. It’s usually the 8th/10th of June before I do much at all.

We did a batch of dry hoggs, 2 had beginnings of strike, they were hard work. Flighty buggers!!! . Did the tups today, hardest part was getting them turned.

Will the shearers be charging less? I for one am sick of funding designer singlets and fancy wool wrapping Instagram chicks when wool is worth damn all.
Best money I spend all year is the cash I give the lad who comes and clips my handful of Hampshire Down tups. He always gets £10 more than he asks for and I don't grudge him a penny of it!

I'd like to think this is being said tongue in cheek and if so then we can all have a laugh. If that's not the case then I'd just like to state that the price of shearing has no relation to how little the wool is worth.

Done the rams on Monday.
March lambing Charollais and dry hoggs all crutched, given Ectofly, then turned back to forget about until the end of the month, post weaning.
April lambing ewes getting half rate Clik at the same time as I do the lambs, then forgotten again until weaning.

Shearers phone got busy last week apparently, so easier for all to let them clear the panicers first.

Trading ewes were crutched pre lambing. They'll get dysect this weekend and the buyers can shear if they want.

Maternal flock pre lamb sheared end of April. They'll get dysect next month. Very much looking forward to getting 100% shedder.
