Morning all

thinking running Few goats behind The sheep For kids and to clear up all the weeds left by sheep,

I know there is some
Sort issue with worms?

Anybody know what this is,is it the goats effected?

the sheep my main comcern,i don't want to Have a negative effect on them or speed up any Worm resistance.

Any advice/experience welcomed!

Watching with interest I have had 10 Boer including a buck here for a month
A combination of their being cheap and lockdown induced madness . The thinking being that they will eat what the Cattle wont and they will help counter each others worm burden. When asked I can say which field the Cattle are in, with the goats I can only say where they were last seen! Goats have a shed to run hack into and watching them feed is interesting. They like dock leaves, seed heads and will graze while also browsing the hedges for bramble and anything they can reach. The plan is direct sales of the carcase cut into 2'' cubes including the bone for those wanting to cook their own authentic goat curry.

You could meet it halfway and get some goat-like sheep. We took some Manx as a rescue job, really interesting watching how they love taking the tops off thistles etc, really tidy the place up. They are wild though ! Need giving a bit of cake once in a while, not because they need it but because its the only way we can move them. Benefit over goats is that they don't need a shelter, hard as nails.

We have sort of ended up with 6 Boer nannies and nine kids
i was going to move them on, but the wife has taken to them.
one strand electric keeps them in better than anything, no maggots, no foot rot, no shearing
for pets they are an easy option.

ah seems that way,
i Really thought iD cracked it and was on to a good plan,
which would Lead to leaving the topper in the shed and few brownie points at same time.

im only concerned about speeding up worm resistance,but i cant find anything online regarding it.

Goats aren’t waterproof like sheep and need shelter of some sort to be able to get out any rain. I keep my goats with sheep and generally ok as long as I keep them vaccinated and are more susceptible to worms than sheep. There are more experienced goat keepers on here, if/when they see the thread.

Would you be kind enough to share your goat vaccination programme please?

Loads of goat people tell you they can only have Lambivac and anything else is bad for them, mine have whatever the sheep have -Heptavac P+ until this year, now on Ovivac. I just treat them like the sheep, just need some shelter from rain. They will get all the usual sheep things - worms, cocci etc
